Apologies on being so delayed with our recaps but holy wow. Episode ten. I was hoping we'd get some great Jac and Ellia interaction sans Casey but I definitely wasn't expecting this.
The episode starts off with Jac rearranging AKA not helping (in my opinion) Casey's timeline. Ellia walks in and spooks her in probably the least spooky way possible but Jac claims the house has just been making her a bit jumpy. Jac's quick to recover though and asks that Ellia not tell Casey because she really doesn't need more reasons to think something's afoot when it's really just an old house.
While Casey is out getting the lay of the land and taking some space from the Grantham House, Jac sees this as the perfect time to aggressively questions Ellia and her thoughts on the house. I think it's pretty clear that Ellia is on Nancy Drew's side and I'm sensing Jac doesn't want that at all.
Ellia doesn't really see why it matters what she thinks because she thinks Jac just needs someone convincing enough, that isn't Casey, to sell the story on their site. Jac's SO clearly in denial about everything and Ellia once again reiterates that she's only there out of absolute necessity and you know the money.
Cue Casey hiding just around the corner and we get a great wide shot of the three girls. Ellia's frustration is only growing at this point and so she finally breaks, "Tell me what I can do, should I agree with you more?" Jac seems to be taken back by Ellia's eagerness to cooperate to get them all out of the house sooner but I don't think she wanted it to happen like this. Next thing you know Casey's popping into the discussion and Jac immediately looks like a little puppy that's been kicked. I have to hand it to her, she's looking out for her BFF *cough*crush*couch* but probably not in the best of ways.
Jac admits she's skeptical and she wants to find out the truth just as much as Casey does but she isn't convinced it's supernatural. I was half expecting Casey to get really upset here but she didn't, instead she counters with calling Jac her Scully and complimenting the way she applies logic to situations where Casey follows her emotions.
Things switch gears now and Casey directs her cannons over at Ellia calling her out for downplaying the hocus pocus. She feels it Casey knows she does and she wants to know why Ellia is really there given her hatred for the Grantham House. Here's where shit gets serious. While Casey was out checking out the exterior, a guy in his car pulls over to make sure she's okay because haunted house, I totally get it. Anyways, she asks him if he knows anything and sure enough he's got some stories.
Apparently 23 years ago a woman named Joanna Henderson died in the house and that woman was Ellia's mother. DUN DUN DUN. We've got our twist and now we know there has to be a real reason Ellia's there because it sure as hell isn't for the money. Stay tuned for more HoH'ers!
